Ou Reang Jungle Expedition
2 Days, 1 Night — A more remote and challenging jungle adventure.
For travellers looking for a deeper adventure, our Ou Reang trek takes you into a quieter part of Mondulkiri, away from the more frequently visited routes.
Working with a local guide from Ou Reang Village, we explore the jungle on foot, discover waterfalls, look for wildlife, and learn about the forest’s natural resources and traditional knowledge.
This experience involves more walking and a more adventurous overnight stay than our Putang Village trek. Along the way, you will have opportunities to appreciate the sounds of the forest, observe wildlife from a respectful distance, and learn how local knowledge helps people understand and use the surrounding environment.
- 2 days and 1 night
- Remote jungle trails
- Waterfalls and forest camping
- Local English-speaking guide
- Meals included
Day 1 — Into the Remote Jungle
7:00 AM — Breakfast and Departure
We begin with breakfast at Mondulkiri Tour before driving approximately 30 minutes from Senmonorom towards the starting point.
Explore the Forest
We set off on foot through the jungle, discovering the natural landscape along the way. Look up into the tall trees and listen carefully — you may spot birds and monkeys moving through the canopy.
Our guide will share local knowledge of the forest and its plants, animals, and traditional uses. We encourage everyone to walk quietly and observe wildlife without disturbing it.
12:30 PM Lunch Beside a Waterfall
Around midday, we stop at a waterfall to enjoy lunch, relax, and swim where conditions permit.
After lunch, we prepare our campsite and make a shelter for the night. Once camp is ready, we head out for a shorter walk in the surrounding area.
4:00 PM — Discover Traditional Forest Knowledge
In the late afternoon, we explore the forest with our guide, learning about traditional ways of identifying edible plants and other natural resources.
Depending on local practices, regulations, and conditions, your guide may demonstrate how certain ingredients are gathered and prepared. We then prepare dinner using fresh ingredients and traditional bamboo cooking techniques.
As evening falls, we settle into our jungle campsite and spend the night in hammocks beneath the forest canopy.
Day 2 — Waterfalls and the Journey Home
6:30 AM — Wake Up in the Jungle
Wake up to the sounds of the forest, pack your belongings, and enjoy a refreshing swim if conditions allow before breakfast.
8:00 AM — Continue the Trek
After breakfast, we leave camp and continue our journey through the jungle towards Leng Kring or Leng Met Waterfall.
Along the way, we pass smaller waterfalls and continue looking for signs of wildlife in the surrounding forest. Animal sightings depend on the conditions of the day, so we take our time and observe the jungle quietly.
Lunch at the Waterfall
Depending on our pace, we stop for lunch at Leng Kring or Leng Met Waterfall. Enjoy time to rest, take in the scenery, and swim where it is safe to do so.
Afternoon — Return to the Village
After lunch, we begin our trek out of the jungle and return to the village, completing our two-day expedition.
We expect to finish at approximately 4:30 PM before returning to Senmonorom.

A Responsible Approach to Wildlife and Nature
The forests of Mondulkiri are home to a rich variety of wildlife. Our aim is to help visitors appreciate this natural environment while respecting the animals that live here.
We work with local guides who share their knowledge of the forest and its traditional uses. During the trek, we ask visitors to remain quiet when observing wildlife, maintain a respectful distance, and avoid disturbing animals or their habitat.
Please note: This is a physically demanding trek. Based on the itinerary, both days involve extended periods of walking on uneven jungle terrain — expect several hours of walking each day. Guests should be in good general health and comfortable on rough, natural trails. If you have any concerns about fitness or mobility, please get in touch before booking and we will be happy to advise.
Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, but travelling slowly and paying attention to the forest can make the journey rewarding in its own right.
Explore Mondulkiri Beyond the Usual Routes
If you want a more challenging trekking experience, with an overnight stay in the jungle and the opportunity to learn from a local guide, the Ou Reang expedition offers a different perspective on Mondulkiri.
